Anoka-Ramsey Coon Rapids Student Senate Named 'Star Campus'

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College student senate is one of the most active student senates in the state, according to a recent award.

The Coon Rapids Campus senate was given “Star Campus” status for the second year in a row. The honor comes from the Minnesota State College Student Association.

Anoka-Hennepin to Launch High School for 'Super Seniors'

Anoka-Hennepin seniors who don’t graduate on time will now have a school of their own.

The district is launching a “super seniors” high school in the 2012-13 school year. Most students will be between 18 and 21 years old.

Volunteers Beautify Anoka County Highway Headquarters Landscaping

Anoka-Hennepin students have been landscaping the newly renovated Anoka County Highway Department building.

Students from Blaine, Columbia Heights, Spring Lake Park, Coon Rapids, and Anoka planted 50 red maple, serviceberry, river birch, Blake Hills spruce, and Austrian pine trees on Saturday, May 5. They also planted 70 various shrubs.

3,500 Local Hospital Workers Vote to Strike

About 3,500 members of the Service Employees International Union Healthcare Minnesota voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to strike.  After two days of voting, 91 percent supported the strike option.

If the union calls a 2-5 day strike it would affect:

-Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina
-Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis

Anoka-Ramsey Community College Honors Retirees

Anoka-Ramsey Community College recently honored about 50 employees who are retiring this year.

A luncheon hosted Tuesday, May 8, celebrated their service to the college.  A presentation was given by Interim College President Jessica Stumpf, and Music Faculty Melissa Bergstrom gave an update on the music building.

Ramsey Hosts Pet Vaccination Clinic

If your pets need their latest vaccines or licenses, you can take them to Ramsey next week.

The city is sponsoring its second spring pet clinic to make sure residents are complying with current ordinances.
